Job Description

The Community Development Department strives to deliver a community that provides exceptional places to live, work, and play through thoughtful planning, responsive permitting, and intentional implementation. This new role will lead technology projects for the Department including, but not limited to, the implementation of the City’s future permitting software system, Accela, and support development of the Department’s Data Management and Reporting Strategy.

The principal function of the Community Development Technology Coordinator is to perform coordinative and administrative level activities on technology related to the City’s economic and community development programs. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs coordination and implementation of technology projects for the Community Development Department including assisting in prioritization and delivery of projects.
  • Works with City departments in administering technology programs and projects.
  • Manages, coordinates, and administers the activities of the Department’s technology projects, including the development and administration of programs, projects, and functions.
  • Responds to requests for information and provides subject-matter-expert guidance to other departments, consumers, the general public, and/or outside agencies, including conducting detailed needs analysis and preparation of reports as required.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Services, Construction Management, or Permitting Sciences or a closely related field and a minimum of two years of experience implementing technology projects; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. This position requires a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.

Bilingual incentive pay available
Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, or any language spoken by over ten percent (10%) of City residents as documented by the most recent U.S. Census, at a proficiency level determined by a fluency test administered by the City, will receive a monthly premium of three percent (3%) of their regular base pay.
