The City of Safety Harbor is a quaint waterfront community on the west side of Upper Tampa Bay, just a short 30-minute drive from Tampa, St. Petersburg, and the Gulf of Mexico.  Spanning approximately 5.42 square miles, the city is home to an estimated population of 18,304.  Safety Harbor is known for its serene, natural beauty, offering picturesque parks, historic sites, and a charming downtown adorned with specialty shops, art galleries, and many dining options.  Residents and visitors alike enjoy a myriad of recreational activities, special events, and other amenities, making this a truly appealing community.

 The City of Safety Harbor is actively seeking exceptional candidates for the role of City Manager, a position that reports to the City Commission, comprised of a Mayor and four at-large Commissioners.  With approximately 188 FTEs and an adopted FY2024 Total Budget of $98.1 million, the City is seeking a City Manager to serve as the Chief Executive Officer, overseeing the daily operations and management of the City under the guidance and direction of the Commission.  The City Manager provides visionary, innovative leadership, supervision, and general direction to the City Management Team (Community Development, City Clerk, Engineering, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Leisure Services, Library, and Public Works) to achieve citywide goals.    

 Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in public or business administration or a related field and five (5) years of municipal management experience as a City Manager or Assistant City Manager or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Members in good standing with FCCMA/ICMA, including an ICMA-Certified Manager are preferred.  Starting salary is open, dependent upon qualifications, and is accompanied by a competitive benefits package.  The first review of resumes will take place on July 8, 2024; the position is open until filled.
